It was the year of the pandemic, 2020. I was out on a morning hike in November. The air was crisp, the days were short, and the leaves had turned. As I walked the bike trail along Amazon Creek the sun was making its way up in the east. Looking west I saw this postcard-like view as I crested the low hill near the city swimming pool. Eugene, really is a beautiful place, especially in the fall.
You and Nancy made an excellent choice in Eugene. Phil Knight’s funding of OU has made it a challenge for our beloved Sun Devils to compete at the highest level. Of course, that is when they shared Pac-12 affiliation!
Nancy and I moved to Eugene for a 9 month sabbatical in 2008-9, to give it a try. At the time we were considering various places in the west for retirement. When we got to Eugene it immediately felt like home. So when we actually retired in 2015 we moved “home” to Eugene.
