With just three weeks to go, I’ve been doing some deeper dives into our itinerary. In my usual obsessive way, I have plotted out our course mile by mile on a topographic map and...
I live in Eugene, OR, a very bike friendly town. In our small city, which if squared up would measure 6 miles by 7 miles, we have 64 miles of shared use paths, 193...
My son and I will be biking C&O Towpath trail. One hundred and eighty five miles in 5 days is the plan. Quick division returns 37 miles a day, but, of course, towns are...

Thanks for the historical background. This quote, “A body of men, however, upright and intelligent, are easily satisfied of what they greatly wish to believe.” remains true to this day. Our delusion makes us so vulnerable. I’m guessing different muscles are involved. What are the the April temps in Eugene for your practice rides?
Hey Dan, “I’m guessing different muscles are involved“ – Yes and No. I plan to go into more depth on this in a future blog. So stay tuned. As to your other question about temps in Eugene. They are generally in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s this time of year, but mostly it’s the rain that is the limiting factor. Not a fan of riding city streets on rain slicked roads. And we’ve had a bit of a wet spring, even for us. It’s good, we need the water, but bad for bicycle training. C’est la vie.!
