Back in Eugene
Well, I am back in Eugene. We left Brookings this morning and we’re back at home by noon. The gear is being wash, aired, and or otherwise being readied for the 68 mile section of the OCT I skipped earlier due to a knee injury. I had planned on heading out tomorrow but another injury will put that off for a few days.

I will confess that about seven days ago I started having some discomfort along the right side of my right shin area. This was exactly like a problem I developed on the PCT nine years ago. It is an inflammation of the EDL tendon of my right leg. This is the tendon that lifts your toes and foot up if you were to cock your foot up. An EDL tendinitis is an over use injury and the number one treatment is rest. Something I haven’t done for it over the last week. I plan to give it a few days off, before returning to finish the trail. I anticipate 2 to 4 days rest will be sufficient.

I will continue short daily blogs about some of my other experiences on the OCT while I’m healing. And, of course, chronicle my last section when I restart in a few days.
Happy Trails…
Excellent Plan B. My favorite part? Starbucks for coffee and a breakfast sandwich with your son! When our daughter lived…
