I See A Doctor
This morning when I got out of bed, my knee was improved. Sore, but improved. Likely, doing a lot less walking yesterday and getting a whole nights sleep didn’t hurt either.
I grabbed a bite and drove over to Urgent Care to see if someone could figure out what was wrong. As the first patient in the clinic for the morning I got seen right away. The doc listen to my story and watched me move around demonstrating how it occurred using a chair as a prop. The fact that I was able to do all these things and wasn’t just sitting there moaning helped her diagnosis. (I remember seeing a patient who claimed he could not move his neck at all. He was sitting on the exam table in the middle of the room, so as I asked him questions, I moved back and forth in the room, and observe that he followed me with his head in a completely normal fashion. Only when I went to examine him did his neck become rigid.)
She did a good knee exam and felt it was probably just a MCL sprain. My knee was stable and other than being sore there were no other signs of internal trauma, like bruising. Rest, ice, compression, and elevation as needed. “Take some time off from your hike,” was her suggestion.
So there you have it. Maybe I’ll be back on the trail soon. I will probably skip ahead on the OCT to get back on schedule and then do the parts I missed at the end.
Safe Travels and Happy Trails
P.S. I’ll update this blog next Monday, July 10th. See you then.
Hey JR, we missed you, but you may have dodged a bullet. It was amazing, even extraordinary, but really really…
