Ready For Tomorrow

Nancy and I drove up to Astoria, OR this afternoon and are staying in a restored 1920’s place called Hotel Norblad. A “Snazzy” place with reasonably priced rooms and bathrooms down the hall. The room even comes with bathrobes. Square in the middle of downtown, the building blends with all the other historic buildings in a city founded in 1811.

My hike starts tomorrow, in a gentle sort of way. Nancy will drop me off at the Northern trailhead and I will walk south about 13-14 miles along the Oregon coast. She will pick me up and we plan to check out Astoria in the afternoon.

The next day, Sunday, she will drop me off where she picked me up and I will continue south to California and she will return home.

Right now the forecast is for highs in the 60’s and lows in the 50’s for the next couple weeks. Mostly sunny. So, other than the crowds of people going to the beach over the July 4th holiday, it will be ideal hiking conditions.

More tomorrow.
